Your child is only allowed one free reimbursable meal. Any a la carte, second meals or extras will be charged accordingly. Meals that do not have enough of the required components will be charged a la carte pricing. Parents are still encouraged to monitor their child’s meal account balance, if they know their child will take any a la carte or extra items. A LA CARTE, SECOND MEALS, OR EXTRAS cannot be charged. When a student’s meal account is depleted, the district will notify the parent.
**Teachers, staff and/or volunteers are not allowed to charge their meals**

How can caregivers access their child’s meal account?
- To view balances or add money online to a meal account, a SchoolCafé account must be created by visiting https://www.schoolcafe.com/SANMARCOSCISD
- SchoolCafé Step-by-Step Guide (English / Spanish)
- Once an account is created, the SchoolCafé mobile application can be downloaded on Apple and Android devices.
How can caregivers add money to their child’s meal account?
- San Marcos CISD – Child Nutrition accepts the following payment types at all cafeterias: cash, online payments and checks. STARTER CHECKS ARE NOT ALLOWED. All returned checks are handled by Checksmart, and they can be reached at 1-888-851-6634.
- Caregivers may also make payments through their SchoolCafé account.
- Please note that there is a $2.25 convenience fee for SchoolCafé to process your payment.
- San Marcos CISD – Child Nutrition does not accept temporary checks
How do caregivers request a refund for funds on a student meal account?
- All refunds will be issued by check. This may take 4–6 weeks to be received by USPS mail.
- Refunds are only issued to the student's caregiver listed as the first contact on a student’s file with the school or a person that the Child Nutrition department can verify has recently made a payment into the student's account through SchoolCafé.
Caregivers may request a refund one of the following ways:
- Online at https://www.schoolcafe.com/SANMARCOSCISD - Select the "Donate or Request Unused Funds" option below the student's information.
- If a caregiver has never made a payment through SchoolCafé, the system will not allow a refund request to be submitted.
- By email, to Lorenza.cervantes@smcisd.net.
- Including student's name, school attending, caregiver name, and the address to which the refund should be sent in the email
- By phone, call Child Nutrition at 512-393-6940.
- We will request the student's name, school attending, caregiver name, and the address to which the refund should be sent during the phone call.
