Greg Hubenak joined SMCISD in March of 2007. His prior experience included 12 years of professional roles in technology-oriented companies like Verizon, Cisco Systems, and Time Warner Telecom, and executive leadership experience as a Texas Army National Guard officer (retired).  He received his B.S. in Electronics Engineering from Texas A&M University, and post-graduate professional certifications from Villanova University.  Greg is passionate about the smart use of technology to improve organizational effectiveness while also providing a safe and technology-rich environment for our students. In his personal time you’ll often find him and his wife deep in a home renovation project, or building and fixing things in his workshop.

At a time when privacy and security were nonexistent, data was everywhere, but one man saw this and stood above the rest to secure it. His name? Benjamin Peralez, known as Gabriel. He has information security experience in multiple environments, including construction and the medical field. Skills range from incident response to policy writing. Gabriel was a former technician at SMCISD and has been given the opportunity
to serve as Information Security Specialist. He holds a “people first” philosophy in information security—data is important because students and staff are important.

Outside of information security, Gabriel enjoys philosophy, and not saying too much about himself online.

Gabriel would like to say a special thank you to his predecessor, Allan and the SMCISD Technology Team, their kindness and guidance have allowed him to flourish. If he is ever successful in this role, it is because of them. He can’t thank them enough.

Christie Moore is the Administrative Associate (aka Techretary) for the Technology Department at San Marcos CISD. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Geography Resource and Land Use Management with a minor in Wildlife Biology from Southwest Texas State University (Texas State). In her free time, she loves spending time with her family (animals included), camping and going on trips. Her son is a graduate of San Marcos CISD and is now a Software Engineer in Austin.

Jeremy Connell is our Network Administrator at San Marcos CISD where he is the steward of all things networking, including Wi-Fi, switches, routers and the Internet.  He hails from the great city of Uvalde, Texas.  Jeremy graduated from Texas State University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.  He previously worked at Best Buy as a Geek Squad agent and joined the San Marcos CISD Technology team in 2009.  He started as a Technology Services Technician and moved to Network Administrator in 2013.  Jeremy enjoys problem-solving and “fixing stuff and watching it go.”, as he puts it.  Jeremy loves spending time with his wife and children and to say he is a fan of Nintendo products is an understatement.

Patrick Banks is the Systems Administrator for San Marcos CISD Department of Technology. He is responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting all server systems and domain functions throughout the district. Patrick joined the Army National Guard in 2004, where he learned much of his technical expertise and is still proudly serving. Patrick began his career with the Department of Technology in 2012 after he received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Management from Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. Patrick enjoys kayaking down the river, fishing and hunting, and spending time with family and friends in his free time.

Rafael Loustaunau is the Applications Integration Coordinator in San Marcos CISD where he provides programming, automation and integration services. Rafael joined the district in 2018. He graduated with a Master’s degree in IT from the University of Texas at El Paso and has a Bachelor degree in CS as well. Rafael enjoys spending time with his three boys and wife, playing video games and going to the gym.

Lisa Jones is a Customer Service Coordinator at San Marcos CISD where she provides technical telephone and remote assistance to district employees. Lisa joined the SMCISD Department of Technology in 2016 after 18 years of experience in the education field as a classroom teacher, Campus Technologist and Technology Integration Coach. She received her Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. Lisa enjoys spending her free time reading, crafting and camping with her husband and four children.

Candice Nevarez is a Network Technician for San Marcos CISD, starting out as a Technology Service Technician. She prides herself on providing prompt technical support and assistance to district staff. Her proactive approach has expanded her areas of expertise to include some System Administration duties, preparing master images for both MacOS and Windows platforms, operating system deployment, mobile device management and serving as our resident Mac expert. Candice moved to San Marcos in 2010 from Hobbs NM. She has her CompTIA A+, Dell, Google Admin and DNA Fusion certifications. Her hobbies include shopping and random fun activities. She has a huge sense of humor, but is shy at first.

Andrew Rhoton is a Technician for San Marcos CISD where he provides technical support to the employees of the district. Andrew joined SMCISD in 2013. He has worked closely with our iOS solutions as well as our network and phone solutions. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Texas State University. Away from work, Andrew enjoys the three R's: river, reading, and repetitions.

Christopher Martinez is a Technology Service Technician for San Marcos CISD where he provides technical support to the employees of the district. Christopher joined the district in 2023. He graduated with a bachelor's degree from Texas State University in 2019 and received his AWS Cloud Practitioner certification in 2022. He is happy to be back in San Marcos supporting the community. In his personal time he likes to hone his skills in the gym improving his health, in the kitchen crafting new recipes, and in his studio creating various crafts and art.
