Mr. Alvarez joined San Marcos CISD in 2020 as the Principal of Goodnight Middle School.  He transitioned into the role of Executive Director of Operations after 4 years as principal.  In the fall of 2024, he transitioned into his current role.  He has worked with managing budgets over the last 8 years.  This includes compliance with state & federal programs, grants and budget allocation.  As SMCISD's Executive Director of Business & Finance, he is responsible for many aspects of the district's finances, including, but not limited to, oversight of the district's revenue projections, budgeting process and the district's procurement team.  Mr. Alvarez is a product of the UT system, receiving his bachelor's in Mathematics from UT Austin and his master's in Mathematics Education from  He has 25 years experience working in the public school system and is excited to support SMCISD in his new role.
