Out of District Transfers Information

  • Nonresident: A nonresident may request that his or her child be admitted into an SMCISD school by completing the Student School Choice/Transfer application during the open transfer window. The District reserves the right to place nonresident children on an open campus and/or deny approval if a school or the District reaches capacity, or the student requesting transfer does not meet transfer criteria (attendance, discipline, academic). The District is not responsible for the transportation of out-of-district school choice/transfer students, except as provided by statute or policy. 

    Employee: A nonresident full-time SMCISD employee may request that his or her child attend an SMCISD school by completing an online application during the open window period.  These applications will be reviewed annually. The District reserves the right to place nonresident children to attend an open campus and/or deny approval if a school or the District reaches capacity.  The District is not responsible for the transportation of transfer students, except as provided by statute or policy.

    Senior Only(12th grade): A senior who has completed his or her junior year as a resident of the District and who has met the attendance, behavior, and academic expectations shall be permitted to enroll and complete his or her senior year in the District.

    The campus principal will request attendance and discipline records from the student's previous campus before making a decision on an out-of-district transfer.
