B.S. Criminal Justice M.A. Educational Leadership and Administration Law Enforcement/Peace Officer Certification

Mr. Mark DeLeon

Hola! My name is Mark DeLeon and I am so excited to serve as an Assistant Principal at Miller Middle School. This year will be my 20th year in education. I taught Criminal Justice in San Antonio for 4 years before moving into school administration. Prior to education, I served as a police officer in the Houston area for 18 years. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Wayland Baptist University and my Master's in Education Administration from Texas State University.

My wife, Cassie DeLeon, and I have been married for 24 years. We have lived in San Marcos for 23 years and are very proud to call this community our home. We have 6 incredible children and 4 awesome grandchildren. Our youngest graduated from San Marcos High School this past school year.

My mission is to create a safe and engaging environment in our schools that promotes optimal learning experiences for our students.  I believe that education is a gift and extends beyond just the classroom.

I truly value the benefits of education as my parents were migrant farm workers and did not have the opportunity to attend school. I went to school with English as a second language student as Spanish was my primary language. I was the first in my family to graduate from high school and go to college. I seek to connect with our students that come from all backgrounds and instill the value of education and share my own journey and how key education has been for me.
